The Heart and Doula Behind Roots to Rhythm Maternal Services
Hi, I’m Diona! I’m so glad you’re here. At Roots to Rhythm Maternal Services, my heart is to walk alongside families with compassion, knowledge, and care.
My background in healthcare allows me to blend evidence-based knowledge with a nurturing approach. I am a trained birth and postpartum doula, lactation educator, and an active member of the National Black Doula Association, dedicated to supporting all families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Along my journey, I’ve come to understand that every family’s path is unique. Whether you’re preparing for birth, adjusting to life with a newborn, or navigating feeding challenges, my role is to ensure you feel grounded, supported, and confident in your choices.
Our philosophy
Inspired by a deep-rooted calling and a commitment to addressing high maternal and infant mortality rates, I believe that mothers, fathers, and caregivers are the roots of life — strong, resilient, and essential to the health of their families.
My work is guided by these values:
- Compassion: Meeting families where they are with empathy and respect.
- Evidence-Based Care: Providing reliable, up-to-date information so families feel informed.
- Inclusivity: Creating a safe, welcoming space for families of all backgrounds, including military families and underserved communities.
- Empowerment: Supporting parents in making the choices that feel right for their family.
For me, this work isn’t just about services — it’s about building relationships, honoring culture and rhythm, and creating safe spaces where families can thrive.

A Final Note
Thank you for letting me share a little about who I am and why I do this work. Parenthood is one of life’s most powerful journeys, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you through it.
